DEVELOPMENT OF WHOLESALE FOOD GRAINS MARKET

As planned already to decongest the CBD area in respect of the Wholesale Food grains trading, the CMDA and Government of Tamil Nadu have accorded Administrative sanction for the development of Wholesale Food grains Market at KWMC with a total investment of Rs.61.85 crores in an extent of 15.60 acres for the construction of 500 shopsin G.O.Ms.No.212 H&UD (UD.III-1) Department dated 20.6.2005.  Based on that, meetings were held withTraders Association and then alternative conceptual designs were prepared based on the Traders suggestion. Further action is being taken to implement the project.

Now, CMRL has requested CMDA to allot a large chunk of land in KWMC including major portion of land in the proposed Food Grains Market.Therefore, CMDA is planning to implement/execute the wholesale activity such as Food grains Market in the balance lands available which would be taken up receiving details of proposed location of CMRL of depot at Koyambedu and Nerkundram villages.
